Tour overview
Start married life with the sound of lions at night and champagne at sunset. This six-day honeymoon safari is designed for two: a private Land Cruiser and guide, intimate lodges and camps with beautiful views, and special moments built into the itinerary, from sundowners in Tarangire to a candlelit bush dinner in the Serengeti.
You travel from Tarangire's baobab country to two nights in a boutique tented camp in the Serengeti, then on to the Ngorongoro Crater rim and a final night at a farm lodge in the lush highlands of Karatu. The pace is relaxed, with time to enjoy your surroundings as well as the wildlife.
It pairs perfectly with a few days on a Zanzibar beach, and we let every property know you are on honeymoon so they can add their own touches where possible.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your private guide meets you at your Arusha hotel or Kilimanjaro Airport and drives about 2 hours to Tarangire National Park. Spend the afternoon on your first game drive together, watching elephant families along the Tarangire River and searching for lions among the baobabs. As the sun drops, your guide sets up sundowner drinks at a quiet viewpoint so you can toast the start of your adventure. Then continue to your elevated suite for a relaxed dinner.
Day 2Tarangire to the Serengeti
After breakfast you leave Tarangire and drive west through Mto wa Mbu, up the Rift Valley escarpment and over the Ngorongoro highlands, stopping to look into the crater. The landscape then opens onto the vast Serengeti plains. After a picnic lunch at Naabi Hill, game drive into the central Serengeti, arriving at your intimate tented camp in the late afternoon. The full journey takes about 6 to 7 hours, broken up by wildlife stops along the way.
Day 3Serengeti Game Drives and Bush Dinner
Wake early for a game drive at sunrise, when lions and leopards are most active along the Seronera River. You may also choose an optional hot-air balloon flight, a once-in-a-lifetime experience followed by a champagne breakfast. After lunch and a siesta at camp, head out for an afternoon drive among the kopjes. In the evening, the camp team hosts a private candlelit dinner in the bush, with lanterns, a crackling fire and the stars of the Serengeti overhead.
Day 4Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim
Enjoy one more morning game drive in the Serengeti, then return across the plains to the Ngorongoro highlands, about 4 hours with stops. In the afternoon you arrive at your lodge on the crater rim, famous for its romantic, richly decorated suites and views straight down into the caldera. Spend the rest of the day relaxing in your room with a fire in the hearth, or walk the rim with a guide before a special dinner for two.
Day 5Ngorongoro Crater and Karatu
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater soon after sunrise for a game drive on the crater floor, where you may see black rhino, lions, elephants, hyenas and flamingos within a few hours. Enjoy a picnic lunch by a hippo pool before ascending the crater wall. In the afternoon, drive about 45 minutes to Karatu, where your lodge sits on a working coffee farm surrounded by gardens and forest. Unwind with a massage, a swim or a walk through the coffee fields.
Day 6Karatu to Arusha
Enjoy a leisurely morning at the farm, with breakfast made from fresh garden produce and perhaps a guided walk to a nearby forest waterfall or a coffee tour. After lunch, your guide drives you about 3 hours back to Arusha, with views of the Rift Valley along the way. You are dropped at your hotel or Kilimanjaro Airport, or at Arusha Airport if you are flying on to Zanzibar for the beach part of your honeymoon.

Absolutely. Many couples finish with several nights on a Zanzibar beach. We can book the flight from Arusha and a romantic beach hotel to complete your honeymoon.
What are honeymoon touches?
Many lodges offer extras for honeymooners, such as decorated rooms, a special dessert or a private dinner setting. These vary by property and are at the lodge's discretion.
